The tree turns red on the day of Ashoora (the day Imam Husain was shaheed). - Said to be in Iran
Blood stains on the tree
People gather around the tree, wiping the blood stains with white handkerchiefs

I myself am finding out where exactly the tree is located. Will update it in the blog once I get it... :)
Knowing the species of tree would be useful too! Some trees have red sap which leaks out in response to insect attack.
